Representative Steve Hopkins was born and raised in the DeSoto area, as were his parents and their families. Steve grew up in a Christian Conservative household in Southaven and graduated from Southaven High School. Steve pursued higher education at Northwest Mississippi Community College and Ole Miss.

Steve went on to live the American Dream, he married his lovely wife Beckie, and together they raised three children: Emily, Andrew, and Callison. Beckie has served as a teacher in our community for over 30 years and Steve has been employed by FedEx for 39 years.

Steve’s love of Mississippi led him to run for office in 2015… he was sworn in as State Representative the following year. Since his election, Steve has been recognized and awarded for his strong record of conservative excellence and has been noted as one of the most conservative legislators to ever sit in the Mississippi House. In line with his character, in 2019, Steve announced he would not run for a third term in the Mississippi house. Staying true to his word to term limit himself to two terms.

After dutiful prayer and consideration… and encouraged by his friends, constituents, and fellow national Freedom Caucus colleagues like former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Steve is running for State Senate to keep our Conservative values front and center in Jackson once more.
